Nippon genes

So I am reeling in my television universe. Mr Brain check. Boss check. Kiina check. Meitantei No Okite check. Liar game check. Chakushin Ari check. Now Bloody Monday. And I am thinking how hot can japanese be.

First up, Kichise Michiko is stunning in Liar Game  & Boss as well as in Bloody Monday. It’s coincidental to see her in all the shows I’ve been watching, them hot faves. She’s her niche. She’s brimming with maturity and she’s just so sexy. (which japan tv is starting to realise) Pity about the shoulder pads in Liar Game. Hmm, or was it the real thing. She looked so great in short hair her once long mane is a good riddance. Think Oyu in Tenchijin.

And the eye candy Sato Takeru in the 4th ep of Mr Brain, as the devastatingly beautiful pianist with amnesia. Something about him screams fraility and pure in his role. (Professor and his beloved equation?) I cannot believe he is younger than me. Ugh. As Bloody Monday, which I am still watching, I believe he will have a greater slice of screentime later into the suspenseful plotline.

Erika Toda in Liar Game is incredulous as the Purity Maiden number one who gets deceived over and over again. Nonetheless, in Boss she takes a 180 degree spin as the sociophobe who has some issues of her own. Loved the glasses, the perm and the taxi-everywhere image. I’m considering changing my glasses, but that won’t turn me into her. drats.

Collected my passport. Tuition after. She’s getting the hang of chemistry, I’m glad. In the afternoon met up with Xiaoyan. Something about her screams Kat Dennings. We hung around. Catching up with all the jdramas of late. Bought a clutch.

An Eluadian Instance is brimming.

Today I spend the entire waking moment organising my itunes. Creating another itunes is a headache. In the meanwhile I have been watching Chakushin Ari. Heh heh, horror in daylight is half the scare. Rerun makes it better. The worst scare has to be when my ext hd suddenly went blank. There goes my itunes, there goes my everything.

Finally finished Liar Game. Clever tactics. The villians really very unpalatable to watch.

Nothing like good horror on a bright sunny afternoon. Okay, I’m alone at home & that up the spooks factor abit. Chakushin Ari(drama) gave me chills when I first watched it a few years back, at 10pm on cable. Now for some reason I am once again curious for a rerun and it is darn well tough trying to find it. Thank goodness I did.

Mark Mothersbaugh tinkering me cool. Loved the synth-pop beeping that is just so lovely. Okay I just heard coughing. Tell me its my imagination. I am watching Liar Game & Meitantei no Okite. Waiting for Boss, Mr Brain and Kiina to be up. I finally watched He’s Just not That Into You. & if it weren’t for karen’s interesting synopsis I would have just falter halfway.

Today georgina came by. It’s her one year old birthday! So she is a year old, still not able to stand or walk, still not able to talk, no teeth spotted. Nvm these things takes time. I’m sad watching her. We took photos and it appeared that she’s now more selective as to the arms that hold her. She only fancy my mum. When I carried her my new braces were just so distracting she’d raise her stubby hands and prod at it. She doesn’t even have teeth! She prod and touch and press the brackets, not quite sure what it was.

I hope that we’re not moving towards a state of entropy here in our family.

Woke up in time for lunch today. Mum made brilliant from leftover what sis prepared for her sentosa getwaway yesterday. The family who eats together stays together, so says Noriko’s Dinner Table. I guess I should really stop eating and reading at the same time. My parents watched tv even when we sit on the same table. Am I the disconnected.

Decided to pack my stuff for my moving to RVR. It’s a little too early, i know. But I’m a sucker for packing things. A change of environment always a novelty. I packed my belongings in obvious randomness into neat cute boxes. Reminds me of Sumire in Sputnik Sweetheart. The whole scene of her moving into her new apartment as narrated from K is as vivid as day.

Watched Nick & Norah again as I rearranged my things. Kat Dennings as Norah really is lovely. Feels like you can relate to her cuz she’s not them impossible girls you know you can never be. Like, jessica alba. Last night I watched BOSS ep 2. I cannot rave enough of how exciting, wonderful and funny this drama is. Move aside, Mr Brain.

Yesterday this woman and man standing outside taka asking people to do survey is PLAIN RUDE. She asked if I could help to do a survey. So i am thinking, well I have conducted survey before on the streets and I know what a bitch it can be when people just shun you like you have leprosy or smth. Well, so then I said yes. Instead she brought me up to her stupid office up in taka & began endorsing her herbal products. Hello, I thought you said you’re just doing a survey. & I am so glad i cut her short of her standard pitch. You leave a bad taste there.

There’s this part in KT Turnstall’s Funnyman that I particularly love.

When no one to lose
Said you feel like a bruise
On a beautiful body.
And all the damage you do
Is so honest and true
I don’t want to feel sorry for you

I didn’t say it was the lyrics that I love. The tune is just so great  it kept spinning around my head. After a while, the meaning of the song starts to sink in & suddenly there’s more depth to it than i thought.

Been very content within the confines of my lazy sofa watching all sorts of shows. Spiderlillies was very sensual & interesting. Isabella Leung is alluring. I don’t know how I should even react. Began watching Mr Brain. Takuya Kimura long tresses is distracting. But you gotta give them credit for adding an element of interest to neuroscience. The most anticipating part is the cameo stars. Gackt was great. Seeing Kame and Aibu Saki is also refreshing.

Boss is damn good damn good. The script is excellent, nice buildup and climax. It feels more like an investigation drama after all the deviated detective dramas like Galileo, Kiina, 33 pun tantei and now Mr Brain. Erika Toda does justice to glasses. And what’s with the constant “is that profiling?” Profiling is not new.

Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist was awesome. I don’t even know why the critics would describe it as bland. And that the critic’s particular comment should be printed on the poster is equally baffling. How does bland even count as compliment.

Kat Dennings as the unlikely heroine, her wisecracks and geeky wit is really something to watch. It’s not really about some boy-and-girl-connect-over-a-ipod-playlist as i thought. Well, it is somewhere in the movie but it does not form the main. And micheal cera, who else but him to act in this role. And his ex, tris looked like Vanessa Hudgens goes blonde.

Some may say this movie is ‘bland’, well then, watch something else if you expect some heavy undertones or drappy themes. I find it simple, entertaining and very attractive. Like the kind of life I would love to have, the kind of unlikely romance geeky girls would like to have, sans the gross gum chewing. A night that never wane. How about that.

Ikea last friday gave me suggestion on where to leave my pockets. Shopping for hostel is exciting. I was really happy when xiaoyan & i happened to notice something that day that left us feeling warm and happy. The sky at dusk was particularly beautiful that evening. Converging clouds and green plains. In spite of our differences in the glass being half filled or not.

I’m really exciting for the penang trip end of this month:) Though I must say I never really feel for malaysia up til now. NUSMU did me some good.

across borders

Last day began with some mighty play of skills, speed and cool in basketball. Amirul, as we heard is a state player, and he was impressive with what grace and panache he execute all his 3 pointer moves. Badminton was exciting as well. The deuce that persist for some ten points was turning into a joke. Justina finally won, and we’re proud of her.

Moving on the second day. Netball in the morning is killing my skin. & I’m not even playing. Took some photos with 70-300mm. Manual focus is an ass.

DSC_0951

There was this hilarious moment when ruth in all zeal and spirit, pass the ball to shahira, who turned out to be umpiring this round.

The way yiwei looked is classic lol. The ball is going to come to her. And it did. One fine captain.

To my dismay,my dslr died just when the futsal was about to begin. After a grueling morning of sports for some, the rest in baking heat of supporting, we washed up and head south to sentosa.  Is it me or that the Merlion is misplaced. Either the merlion is whitewashed or the subject is too dark. I had to resort to some very obvious photoshop tinkering to achieve compromise.

DSC_1305

This is mister kiang’s hand by the way. They went to the images of singapore and luge while some of us hang around. Evening stroll by the beach followed by some unpalatable dinner. Song of the sea is lame for its storyline. Lame nemo and its vector light friends yaks nonstop abouut some singing and missing princess. It was the abrubt fireballs surging upward into the darkness of the sky and the colourful spectacle of water, lights and music that took our breath away. The nightfall is the stage. The water the performance.

DSC_1382

This being the last night for our UM friends, we took them to appreciate the nightlife bustling in singapore. I went with the guys to highlanders while the bulk of the girls went clubbing. It was pretty fun, we played some funny games and coupled it with some truth or dare to weasel some answers from one another. Shan chin taught us huh? game which keep penalising chee wei.

we host

June 20, 2009

Day one begins at 9am at PGP. We were early, cursing the beckoning of bed and sleep in. When the UM students arrived, through the lens i spy the faces of the people to be acquainted with in the coming 3 days.

Singapore Flyer was the plan of the afternoon. Of course we wouldn’t want to miss a free ride. Not that it was particularly fun onboard. We spend the entire journey taking photos of one another within the cabin and across the cabin. What breathtaking panaromic scenery to talk about.

DSC_0682

I came back in the evening, in time for dinner. The long day of sleep less done them no good, lugging their bodies around, resting at every idle moment. We lost our way to the indonesian diner at ms. The food was comparable to rice table. Love love love the tahu telur. Proh Loh graced us with his entertaining chit chat with the UM friends in my group, though i must say we are pretty shy about speaking with him.

We strolled down to esplanade post dinner, for a photoshoot. We returned back to PGP for a night in. I stayed in KEVII, RVR and KR before. It was pretty not bad.

We met up once more before mariana fly back and bring back some more kusuka chips for us. We have it enough with jack & jill. caramel for more cupcakes. I do like the cupcakes there. Borrowed some books from the library.

Sunday was wii with fyp group plus justine. Then we watched SITC movie again. Evening mahjong with hongyi and karen and justine. Was fun, until the hokkien qua came along. I made a nifty profit of 20 cents after like 6 hours of tiles shuffling. We headed to jalan kayu for supper.
